Personalised original illustration

A one-of-a-kind hand-painted illustration created from the people, pets and small stories that matter to you.

Rather than reproducing a single photograph, I use your photos, memories and personal details to create an original character-driven illustration in my own style.

Hand-painted in Melbourne using ink and watercolour on paper.

How it works

01

Share your references

Send at least five photos and a few details about the person, pet or pair you’d like me to illustrate.

02

I create your sketch

I’ll send a preliminary sketch showing the pose, expression and key details. One round of minor changes is included.

03

You approve it

Once approved, I paint the final artwork by hand in ink and watercolour.

04

I paint & send it

Your original artwork is carefully packaged and sent to you as the finished physical piece.

Before ordering

  • My commissions are created in my distinctive illustration style and are not exact photographic reproductions.
  • Please take a look through my portfolio before ordering to make sure my work feels right for you.
  • As each artwork is created specifically for one person, commissions cannot be returned or refunded once work on the sketch has begun.
  • After the preliminary sketch has been approved, changes to the composition, pose or main elements can no longer be made.
  • If I’m unable to complete your commission for any reason, you will of course receive a refund.

Supplied unframed

Your original artwork is supplied unframed, giving you the freedom to choose a frame and presentation that feels right for your home or for the person receiving it.

Copyright & personal use

  • Your purchase includes the original physical artwork for personal use.
  • Copyright remains with Valeria Gottau.
  • The artwork may not be reproduced, resold as reproductions, used commercially, or used for AI training, AI generation or similar technologies without written permission.
  • You’re very welcome to photograph and share your original artwork for personal use and on social media.
